Bisi Badminton Festival for Seven junior schools
Four festivals were organised for April and May. Eight classes of Year 3 children then benefitted from an afternoon of badminton activities. 240 children in total were given the opportunity to take part; they came from Applecroft, Creswick, Holwell, Holy Family, Our Ladies, St John’s Lemsford and The Ryde.

Herts Community Foundation recieves £600,000 for Modernisation
A partnership of 17 organisations that provide support services for voluntary and community groups in the county has been awarded funding to modernise and develop the way in which those services are delivered. The £600,000 18 month project, titled “Herts TNT”, will be led by Hertfordshire Community Foundation.

Save our SSP Campiagn group comprises: Matt Rayner, Y&SPO, Sue Lewis Head of SFO Sports College and SSP Hub school, Steve Savva, WH PDM,, Shelly Harris, SSP Young Leaders’ Rep. (based at Monks Walk school),Dave Bartlett, WHSPAA Chairman.
On 14th January the Campaign group met Grant to make him aware of the problems that demolishing our SSP would have on our schools and community and look at ways forward. Grant forwarded our letter to Michael Gove and Jeremy Hunt.
Michael Gove forced into about-turn over scrapping School Sports Partnerships after outrage over cuts
".. the Department for Education announced that the school sports infrastructure would stay in place until the end of the current academic year with an additional £47 million of funding."

Welwyn Hatfield School Sports Partnership has delivered more sport and physical activity for our children than ever before, yet Education Secretary, Michael Gove, has not only demolished the scheme and made the staff who deliver competitive sport (and all the other SSP aspects) redundant, but he wants Olympic-style competition and leagues starting June 2010. Last accademic year, for example our SSP enabled more than 7000 children to take part in competitive sport. In total in WH 11000 children benefitted from our SSP's schemes.
The national campaign started by Debbie Foote, a 17-year-old Young Ambassador for Sport, rasied over 600,000 signatures and they were presented to Michael Gove, 6th December. The Government are deliberating but without further support we could still see the network of schools, as SSPs, and most of the 10 strands disappearing.
